When I was walking around on the beach of Jökulsárlón, looking at the ice blocks, finding that angle, searching my image, I suddenly realized that these blocks of ice are old. And when I say old I mean old. The ice comes from the glacier and it's probably thousands of years old. That piece of ice on the beach in front of me may be older than the world's largest religions. It's older than pretty much any invention that has lead to things surrounding us in our daily lives, things we take for granted, things that have "always" existed. And it's probably old enough to already have formed when the first humans set foot on the island.
The perspective is mind blowing to say the least.
